Dr. Poonam Sharma

I am a highly motivated and enthusiastic researcher with a Ph.D. degree in catalysis, in organic synthesis or in the field of materials science, with excellent skills in the field of materials synthesis and characterization. My goal will be to pursue a challenging research career for the better future. For that my main challenges will be to smartly find new synthetic technologies and pathways for catalyst materials with new performance characteristics. I am excited by solving fundamental research questions and inspired by the prospect of materials synthesis and solving problems in catalysis with innovational achievements in applications such as asymmetric synthesis, conversion of biomass, municipal waste treatment or activation of syngases and alkanes.

MY LATEST RESEARCH

Synthesis of 2D materials for various applications

Synthesis of low cost and hexagonal WS2 nanosheet and its application as a photo-catalysts in water splitting, as a counter electrode in the solar cell, as an anode in lithium-ion batteries, as a bio-sensors and as a solid lubricant. Synthesized WS3 and WS2 nanoparticle and nanosheets are as follow-

Bio-Mass conversion
I prepared heterogeneous catalysts for oxidation of furfural into furoic-acid serve as a renewable alternative to terephthalic acid in the production of polymers. That opened novel possibilities for obtaining value-added chemicals from renewable resources.
